Labor Camps

     There were not enough workers in Germany that made weapons, bombs, plains and other war supplies, so Hitler had to replace some of the workers. A source of leighbor that they already had ready to work was the consentration camps so Hitler  took a lot of jews from the camps and shipped them to labor camps.

     The camps had different leighbors that they would do, some of them were producing fuel and synthetic rubber, steel manufactured tanks, guns and ammunition, warplains, and about 400 others. Some were near mines, and some were near railroad tracks to rebuild the railroad tracks that had been bombed. There were camps near the battlefront and the prisoners had to do dangerous tasks, like carrying ammo to the front lines, slowing down tanks, and opperating anti aircraft guns. Eventually the people that worked for a long time could quit working there and then leave, and they would get replaced by new people coming in.

     There were many deaths at the labor camps, because of the deplorable conditions, the brutality of the guards, so the labor camps became death camps. The buildings were not heated, they didnt have much blankets, coats, clothes, and not enough food to go around. At the womans camps they only got sacks and cut holes in them for clothes and the shoes they got didn't last long. At the mens camps there was hardly any food, averagely men only got about a slice of bread, a slice of meat, and a soup each day, so many starved and died. Most prisoners died from natural causes like: exposure to the elements, undernourishment, disease, or phisical weakness. They still had to do there jobs, they would even get beaten to work faster. People who dissobeyed would get shot or hanged. Some people threw themselves against the electric fence or hanged themselves to excape the torture.

     There were so many deaths in the labor camps that they had to recruit more people a lot. more than 7 million laborers were recruited from concured towns. They took everyone they could find that could be able to labor. They loaded everyone up in trucks and marked them "Worker Resettlement". The final solution to the Jewish Question would require a new type of concentration camp.
